Soprano and ensemble director Isabel Palacios, whose Camerata de Caracas ( is the premier Early Music ensemble in her native Venezuela, will be a Regent's Lecturer in the Department of Musicology from 8-22 of February, 2010. Her work with student singers and instrumentalists on Hispanic Renaissance and Baroque repertories will culminate in a public concert in Powell Rotunda on Friday, Feb 19.

 Señora Palacios' solo vocal recital is also scheduled for Feb 18, in Popper Auditorium in the Schoenberg Music Building. As a professional singer her repertoire is very extensive and varied, ranging from medieval music to cabaret songs, and from Gluck’s Orpheus et Eurydice to the Kindertotenlieder of Mahler and the Folk Songs of Luciano Berio.
