Alejandro García Sudo is a third year doctoral student at UCLA’s musicology department and a Fulbright-García Robles Fellow. He obtained a B.A. in International Relations from El Colegio de México and a M.A. in Musicology from The University of Western Ontario. His dissertation focuses on music and inter-American cultural diplomacy during the Pan American era.
Other research interests include transnational networks of musicians in North America, early radio broadcasting in U.S.-Mexico relations, the Mexican American narcocorrido, and the 20th-century revival of early modern Iberian American repertoires. His study of American regional systems before U.S. hemispheric hegemony (Dos sistemas internacionales americanos: Origen, consolidación, fundamentos y repercusiones teóricas) will be published in early 2016.
