The Ethnomusicology and Systematic Musicology Laboratory is used for laboratory research as well as graduate seminars. The main room (ca. 600 square feet) is called the Seminar Room and is used for classes that need to have close proximity to laboratory and field-research equipment. The room can be partitioned using an acoustically isolating divider so that seminars and research work can coexist peacefully.

Equipment provided in this room includes computers, video equipment, Windows-based recording stations, other stations which allow users to do scanning, image processing, webpage design, and more.

Fieldwork equipment for audio and video recording is available for loan to ethnomusicology students and faculty.
